Fluxless Aluminum Welding

A new fluxless aluminum welding rod has been developed that can simplify repairs on virtually all grades of aluminum alloys including zinc and magnesium compositions. Alumaloy is a low temperature (716°F) or (380°C) aluminum welding rod that can be used to close holes or bridge gaps as large as 10mm or a little over 3/8 inch in diameter. The repair procedure is similar to soldering and no other specialized equipment is required. A regular air-propane or air-acetylene torch will provide more than enough heat to perform the job. The edge of each piece to be joined is first heat and tinned or buttered with a layer of Techno-Weld and allowed to cool. The second step is to join both tinned or buttered pieces together and re-apply heat until they fuse. The resulting joint is nearly as strong as mild steel and has good mechanical properties as well.
