@Tonywp80376 The chisel cut is to make the end of the bar angled and not straight - this will help blend the weld in as a straight cut puts the end of the bar into a shear plane when welding.Normally I would do this with a hammer, but in this case it would bend the stems of the leaf.Cheers, Mark

Question, I've watched this video numerous times. I've read the notation in the video and my question is, By using the chisel to make the cut, are you saying that the upset is not necessary for the weld, or is this just a technique for working with round stock? I meant to ask you this at the rms conference but it slipped my mind. :)

is that wrought iron? I don't see any flux being used.

Where can I get an anvil like that and how much is the cost? Blacksmithing looks fun.

Almost all horse shoers know nothing about trimming a hoof. If you can't keep a horse working barefoot, you can't keep horses feet and should resign!

@MarkAspery im a noob trying to practice welding, i took a quarter inch thick rectangular bar and beat it as flat as I could, I made a fold and i am now trying to make that fold weld to the body of the piece, it seems that nothing i do makes it change, i reheated it to the same color i see at 0:19 and struck the fold repeatedly to no avail, any tips?

@Luudite Yes, sorry about that - The branch was what I had to make that day for my business - I just filmed the process as I worked.Cheers, Mark

kind of a neat video, could have done with 25 fewer repetitions of the weld, or maybe weld something other than leaves?
