you know I'm thinking that the folded edge would make a pretty stable limiter as to how far it is going to draw over. If they are thin then hey are consumed by the weld pool and because you are keeping the weld pool even and uniform they become part of the weld bead.

If you weld over the tacks wouldnt the weld look strange, your gona have a nice strate weld in the centre byut youl have sorta 2 big weld areas, if that made sense
